In the book The Prisoner of Azkaban there are many characters but the main ones in this story are Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley. All of these characters are students who attend Hogwarts and are all solving mysteries that occur in the magical world. These characters are very important in this story because they help defeat one of the most feared wizard of all time, Lord Voldermort. Harry Potter is a kind boy who is brave enough to confront Lord Voldemort into defending the wizarding world. Hermione in the other hand is a very genious girl who never lets down a book and will know the answer to almost any potion, spell, and any background information about almost everything. Ron is a brilliant boy who has wizarding parents that are still alive and knows anything related to wizarding rumors, tales, and even the laws of the wizarding world,since his dad works in the Ministry of Magic. Each character changes their actions when the situation gets difficult. In page 56 it recalls, “It’s not funny, Ron said Hermione sharply.” This simple statement shows how upset and mad Hermione can be by just the tone of her voice. One of the most important scene’s in this story is the first day of Hogwarts. This This scene is an important scene because it is when everything originated, how it all began.This scene is in the school of witchcraft and wizarding and it is happening in September 1 at eleven o'clock. No this scene does have any complications or conflicts because it is just like another first day school day for us. Yes in this story this specific scene does show Harry’s characteristics because he is excited to not be home with the Dursleys the following year. In the book The Prisoner of Azkaban It states, “The sooner we get to the train the better,” This means that Harry is excited to leave the Dursleys and to go to Hogwarts. In this story there are many fictional events rather than non- fictional. One example of a fictional event is when they refer to witches and wizards which do not exist. Also, another fictional characters in this book are Goblins who are in charge of the bank.Another example of a fictional event is when they play Quidditch, a made up game from wizards that includes using a broom stick. In page 233, it claims, “He had been the owner of the best broom in the world for a few short hours, and now, because of her interference, he didn’t know whether he would ever see it again.” This statement in the story comes to show all the fictional things made up in this story.An example of non-fictional events only occurs when muggles, humans, are involved.
Evy Gonzalez 09/25/17 Period 3/4 Reading Log #2 The Reptile Room In the book titled the Reptile Room the three main characters are Violet, Klaus, and Sunny (the Baudelaire Orphans). These characters are brother and sisters whose parents died in a fire and have had many unfortunate events happening to their lives. Count Olaf, Dr. Montgomery, and Mr.Poe are other characters involving the unfortunate events. Count Olaf, for example, was so greedy that he tried to ruin the Baudelaires lives just to receive their massive fortune. Dr. Montgomery is a scientist that studies snakes and on his last discovered a new species that is very harmless. In this book sadly, Dr.Montgomery dies of another attempt of Count Olaf’s ways of reaching the immense fortune. In book titled the Reptile Room it comments, “Would Dr.Montgomery be a kind man? Would he at least be better than Count Olaf? Could he possibly be worse?” This means that the Baudelaire children are worried for the new person that is going to take care of them since many unfortunate events just happened.
