Evy Gonzalez P.¾ LA 8/25/17 Growth Mindset Growth mindset is showing how you can develop your own abilities and talents without giving up. In many ways, details have contributed to leading to many people’s success including Bethany Hamilton, J.K Rowling, Malala Yousafzai, Thomas Edison, Jack Andraka, Nelson Mandela, Sonia Sotomayor, Clara Lemlich, William Rodolph, Michael Jordan, and etc. In the article, “How a Growth Mindset Contributes to Financial Success” it comments that, “A fixed mindset will force you to lay the blame for your situation on the doorstep of something beyond your control: the markets, your income, lack of education/support/understanding rather than entertain the idea that there might be something you could do to alter your situation if you were willing to approach it a little differently.” In this article it introduced many details on how we have different perspectives on things that contribute to the success in people like Michael Jordan who is a basketball player who has put a lot of time and effort to achieve. In the words of Michael Jordan, “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” In conclusion, there are many details that contribute to growth mindset and it is important because you can always improve in anything even if you are good at it. Since Michael Jordan succeeded through growth mindset I did a of a basketball hoop and ball as my artifact. The basketball hoop and ball looks 50 times smaller than an actual basketball hoop and ball because it is a mini demonstration. The backboard, rim, and the hoop look very similar to an actual ones you would use for basketball but instead of plastic and cardboard it is made out of glass for the backboard and metal for the rim. This artifact show how their are many details that contribute to a growth mindset because a fixed mindset person would be closer to the hoop as possible while a growth mindset would be farther away from the hoop. The reason that a person with a fixed mindset would be closer to the hoop than a person who has a growth mindset is because a person with a growth mindset would challenge themselves even if they fail for instance a person with a fixed mindset would not like to fail and would give up if they do. In conclusion, This artifact is important because it shows the difference on how each mindset behaves and their perspective on things.
Evy Gonzalez P.¾ LA 8/27/17 Growth Mindset Reflection Learning about both types of mindset was very interesting because you would never believe failure would be a good thing. One thing I learned through this process of the Growth Mindset project was how we behave and our different perspectives about failure. As human beings one natural thing about us is when we fail we get upset and we give up, but with a growth mindset it will help us grow and improve. I would be considered a person with a fixed mindset because whenever I don’t win or have good grades I get upset but with this new topic, I am learning to accept failure and to contiue trying and doing my best.I also learned how to work with others and thinking for original ideas for this project.
F.I.N.D Reflection In the Crucible a known fact is that people in the play were real people in real life. Internal Connection-This play relates to real life situations because of the falsely accused in court. New Idea- The court should have effective evidence to accuse anyone. Decision- My personal decision is to think through evidence that is supported to accuse people and not condemn someone to something they did not do.
October Reflection In terms of my academic goals I am doing a minimum job and must try harder to get straight A’s. I am reading a few books when I have spare time from my homework.I am also doing a minimum of talking during class conversations and should start participating more often. Some strengths that I find in myself is the ability to understand a book without having to read it twice. I think this is a good strength because it helps my reading in different ways. One weakness that I find in myself is the fact that I repeat myself very often in essay. This could be improved by asking Mrs. Park for help when I am stuck on a specific topic.I feel as writer that my essays could improve but are becoming very decent. The most challenging thing for me is to not use the correct grammar at some points. The most easy thing for me is to comprehend the text and to summerize it.In the month of November I want to practice on my writing abilities, speaking up in class, and to fix my grammar mistakes.
